Metro Divison veteran Evgeni Malkin falls victim to burglary, Most prized possession stolen
Troubling news has surfaced regarding Metropolitan Division veteran Evgeni Malkin, the assistant captain of the Pittsburgh Penguins, as an unfortunate incident occurred this past weekend.
It has been reported that Evgeni Malkin's house was broken into over this past weekend, and that several of his Stanley Cup rings are missing.
It was also reported that Malkin's back door was kicked in and during the time of burglary his alarm system and cameras were down, along with his safe being left opened. Creating a bit of a fishy situation.
The day of the burglary, was apparently when the Penguins faced the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, January 11th, and only a few after hours after the incident is when the 911 call was made.
Multiple sources have confirmed to KDKA-TV that during the break in, Evgeni Malkin's three Stanley Cup championship rings were taken.
Malkin has won a total of three Stanley Cups while playing with the Pittsburgh Penguins, in 2009, 2016, and 2017. Definitely an unfortunate situation, considering how hard he has worked to win all three of those rings.
The Allegheny County Police have confirmed they are currently investigating this burglary and are looking to speak to anyone with any information.
Here's a report from CBS news:
'Malkin joins a growing list of prominent professional athletes who have been the target of home break-ins. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce both had their homes broken into last year.»
He also isn't the first NHL player to have his home targeted in the last year. Dallas Stars forward
Tyler Seguin also had his home targeted in 2024.
The FBI has recently sent a bulletin to all the professional sports leagues about organized and sophisticated burglaries that have been targeting athletes.
No further details have been provided, stay tuned for NY Rangers Insider for further updates on the situation.
