The Hockey world is left mourning as beloved longtime Original-Six broadcaster has sadly passes away at 95-years old.

According to latest reports, longtime Original-Six broadcaster of the Detroit Red Wings, Ray Lane, has sadly passed away on Saturday at the age of 95-years old.
Ray Lane was a longtime broadcaster for the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, Michigan and Michigan State athletics, a voice that will forever remembered in the sports industry.
"Ray Lane, a former FOX 2 broadcaster, who also spent time calling Tigers games alongside Ernie Harwell, and calling games for Michigan State, Michigan, the University of Detroit and the Cincinnati Reds, along with working for the Pistons and Red Wings, died Sept. 27 at 95," FOX 2 announced.

"Lane worked in both radio and television as a sports broadcaster, as well as spending many years as the sports director at FOX 2."

Ray Lane's Broadcasting Career Will Forever Be Remembered Across The Sports Industry

Lane's career was truly remarkable, as his voice will became a staple for generations of sports fans across several platforms, including the NHL and MLB.
Following the heartbreaking passing of Lane, several friends and colleagues, took to social media to honor Lane's legacy with heartfelt tributes.
"Great gentleman. Iconic voice. Ray Lane was one of the broadcasters who helped me fall in love with sports. Generations of Michiganders feel the same way, about one of the most relatable and versatile talents this industry has ever seen," MLB reporter Jon Morosi shared.
«It's a difficult time because he was one of my best friends,» Martyn said. «My wife Donna and I did a lot with Ray and his late wife Carolyn and we had a lot of fun with a group of us we called 'The Motley Crew.' One time Ray put a «Darkness with Harkness» bumper sticker on my car during the 'Dead Wings' era when Ned Harkness was the coach and later GM. When I came out, I knew right away who did it, and he owned up. When we golfed together, he would hit it long, but chances are the ball would go into the trees or the water and he would scream, 'It's outta here' just like he called home runs. We had a lot of laughs.»

Rest In Peace, Ray Lane.
