Over the past several games, many people have noticed including pundits, scouts, and fans that former Ranger and Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek and his staff have been attending several Rangers games as the trade winds continue to swirl around both teams with the NHL trade deadline less than 10 days away.

A trade between these two teams certainly makes sense as the Ducks continue their rebuild and has several assets available that could benefit the Rangers.
There have been two players from the ducks that have been swirling around the Rangers rumor mill who happened to be Ducks winger Frank Vatrano a former Ranger himself and Ducks center Adam Henrique.
During the podcast of Forever Blueshirts, it was mentioned that Vatrano will be an unrestricted free agent next year and the team would like to retain some assets rather than lose him for absolutely nothing.
«I keep hearing his name, but they are going to have to do something to entice Pat Verbeek (Ducks GM) to move him,» a source told Forever Blueshirts. «He's not in the position where he's walking out the door for nothing, so he won't be looking to sell at any cost.»

At a $3.65 million cap hit which could be retained through salary retention and the fact that he had scored 26 goals with 45 points this year, Vatrano certainly is an attractive option to the Rangers.
It remains to be seen on whether a deal can be done or not but it's highly likely they will explore every option they can as both teams are looking to do business.
