Rangers top prospect reveals where he will play for 2024-25 Season
The New York Rangers' top prospect Gabe Perreault was made available to speak to the media, after the days' end of Prospect Development Camp.
Perreault relayed to the local media and NHL reporters that he intends to return to the Boston College Eagles again for another year.
«He had a heckuva season, was impressive to watch, fun to watch,» Rangers director of player development Jed Ortmeyer said Tuesday. «I think he's a player we're excited about.»
He wants to play his sophomore year in BC out, before having significant discussions with his family regarding his career.
If he decides to go pro next year, he could sign his ELC after the 2024-2025 NCAA season and arrive on Broadway soon after.
«Just focused on having another big year at school hopefully win the national championship and then when that times I'll probably discuss it with my family, my agent, obviously the Rangers see where they think I'm at, see where I think I'm at and make a decision from there,» Perreault said.
Perreault's freshman year in BC was excellent after being drafted 23rd overall in the 2023 NHL Draft.
He posted 60 points(19 G, 41 A) in 36 games in BC, which tied for fourth in the NCAA last season.
He was also part of the team, which secured gold in Sweden at the World Junior Championships in 2024. As a part of Team USA he scored 10 points( 3 G, 7 A) in 7 games, and would later be invited to the World Juniors Summer Showcase and could obtain a leadership role in 2025's WJC.
