New York Rangers Linked To Buffalo Sabres Top Draft Pick Along With Four Other Organizations

According to The Fourth Period, Buffalo Sabres forward JJ Peterka could be moved as we see the offseason progress. The RFA is generating a good amount of interest from teams across the NHL, and the New York Rangers are one of them.
The New York Rangers are one NHL team that needs to improve its lineup significantly. Adding a top-six forward like JJ Peterka would be a move that keeps them in their window of contention, while allowing them to save enough money to address needs elsewhere.
According to The Fourth Period, the New York Rangers are one of many teams including the Vancouver Canucks, Utah Mammoth, Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames who are suitors for him.
The 23-year-old has proven to be a capable goal-scorer and tallied 27 goals and 68 points this season.
We're unsure of what it'll take to pry JJ Peterka from GM Kevyn Adams' hands. While there are always trades, there are also offer sheets.
According to The Win Column, it might take an offer sheet of $7-7.5 million to lure him away from Buffalo.
Letting Peterka go as an RFA with an offer sheet of over $5 million would fetch the Sabres a first and third round pick in 2026. Over $7 million would add a second rounder as well.
But that remains speculation, as free agency hasn't even begun, but we'll pay close attention to this storyline as it develops.
His previous contract, which paid him $855K AAV, expires at the end of the season, and he could find new opportunities elsewhere given his scoring abilities.
