Devastating news leaves the hockey community mourning after several reports confirmed the saddening news of former Original-Six defenseman has passed away.

The NHL Alumni Association has recently made an announcement on Wednesday that former Chicago Blackhawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Minnesota North Stars and Detroit Red Wings defenseman John Miszuk has sadly passed away at 84-years old.
Miszuk managed to play six NHL seasons spilt between the four different organizations, the Blackhawks, Red Wings, Flyers and the North Stars from 1963-1970. Where he made a total of 237 appearances in the NHL and tallied seven goals, 39 assists for a total of 46 points.
After leaving the NHL, Miszuk ended up playing in the WHA, playing full-time for Michigan Stags, Baltimore Blades and the Calgary Cowboys from 1974-77.

The NHL Alumni Association issues heartfelt tribute following the devastating passing of John Miszuk.
"John Stanley Miszuk, the NHL and WHA defenceman born on September 29, 1940, in Nalibaki (then part of Poland, now Belarus), passed peacefully with family at his side on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Former NHL hockey player John Miszuk returned to his birthplace in Naliboki, Belarus, more than seven decades after his family was driven out during World War II. After spending part of his childhood in forced labour and refugee camps, Miszuk emigrated to Canada and started his remarkable journey to the NHL.

He is widely known for his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Minnesota North Stars between 1963 and 1970, and later for playing in the WHA-including the Michigan Stags/Baltimore Blades and Calgary Cowboys from 1974 to 1977."
