An unexpected trade had been announced between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins that would involve Mika Zibanejad and Matthew Poitras.

The New York Rangers had a an outstanding run during the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year, and were heavy favourites to go all the way and win the Cup. However the Florida Panthers had a different plan and eliminated the Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Since then this has sparked some rumours that Rangers general manager Chris Drury might be looking to make a blockbuster trade with star forward, Mike Zibanejad.
Recent reports suggested that Zibanejad could be looking for a new home and has been linked to the Boston Bruins as they're in need of a number one center since Patrice Bergeron retired last year.
An NHL insider stated the Rangers may be interested in trading Mika Zibanejad for the Bruins first round pick of 2025 or 2026, along with a promising young player like John Beecher or Matthew Poitras.
Lyle wrote «The Bruins could use Ullmark as a trade chip to add a physical forward or defenseman that could be included in a package deal for Zibanejad. They could include their 2025 or 2026 first-round pick in the package and one or two prospects or a promising youngster like John Beecher or Matthew Poitras.»

However, this trade is most likely to never happen as Mika Zibanejad still currently has six years left on his $8.5 million contract and also has a full NMC. But if this trade was to be entertained by the Rangers, who would you rather them trade for, John Beecher or Matthew Poitras?
