The hockey world is currently mourning the tragic loss of a 17-year old junior hockey defenseman, who lost his life far too soon.
A young junior hockey player of the Idaho Falls Eagles, who showed great promise has sadly lost his life far too soon following reports of a tragic car accident.
The 17-year old defenseman, Carter Barnes from Idaho just recently earned the defenseman of year award, and is known for being a kind, loving and very thoughtful kid. A young star who has wearing skates since the age of 5, as noted in his obituary.
The young hockey player played for the Bonneville varsity ice hockey team and earned a Mayor's Scholarship Award and was a part of the National Junior Honor Society.
Sadly this is one of the very many tragedies that have affected the hockey community this year.
Following the tragic passing of Barnes, several organizations, including his own Idaho Hockey Association, have took to social media to issues statements on heartbreaking news.
Our Hockey family up north in ID Falls is going through a really hard time right now with a tragic car accident taking one of their players and placing another in ICU. We want Carter and Waylon's families to know we are thinking of them. We would like to do a «Sticks out for Carter» on Tuesday. Please post your picture in the comments!! Let's rally like we know how to do around these families with a simple act of hockey love!!
Truly some very saddening news, other reports have stated that the hockey community is coming together to put sticks outside in honour of Cater.
On behalf of everyone here at NY Rangers Insider we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Carter Barnes as they navigate through this difficult time.
