The New York Rangers are faced with a major decision after signing Kaapo Kakko
The New York Rangers have made a massive decision by signing Kaapo Kakko to a one-year $2.4 million contract on Thursday, which was his qualifying offer.
After the announcement was made there was lots of speculation on how the Rangers will handle Kakko's contract, as they now have two options.
The first option would be for the Rangers to can continue to work with Kaapo Kakko and see if he will be able to break through and reach his full potential.
On the other hand, for option two, the Rangers could also try and move him with a trade, considering he is on an affordable contract that other teams could take on.
Kakko was the second over all pick after being selected by the New York Rangers in the 2019 NHL Draft, but just hasn't quite lived up to the high expectations throughout his first five years in the NHL.
Especially this past season, as the 23-year old only had 19 points (13 goals, 6 assists) while averaging 13:16 minutes of ice time.
