Joey Votto has been talking about Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s down season, and Blue Jays fans took notice.
Votto, a Hall of Fame caliber hitter who briefly wore a Blue Jays uniform, has been vocal about what he's seeing from Guerrero lately.
It's not hard to understand why people are listening. Few hitters in the last generation understood the craft the way Votto did.
Guerrero has just seven home runs this season, a number that's nowhere near what a player of his caliber and contract is supposed to produce.
He's currently on the seven-day concussion IL after a hard collision against the Yankees, adding injury to an already rough year at the plate.
A clip of Votto's comments made the rounds on social media this week.

Why fans are pushing for Votto in the organization
That reaction sparked something bigger than just agreement. A chunk of Blue Jays fans now want Votto brought in as a coach.
The logic isn't complicated. If he understands Guerrero's swing well enough to diagnose it publicly, why not let him fix it from inside the building?
Votto's own career was built on relentless self-scouting and adjustment, the exact traits Guerrero seems to be missing through this stretch.
There's no indication Toronto is actually considering this. Fan campaigns like this rarely translate into front-office action this fast.
But the idea has legs online, and it says something about how much scrutiny Guerrero is under right now.
Whether Votto ever ends up in a Blue Jays uniform again, in any capacity, remains pure speculation. For now, it's just a conversation fans won't let go of.
Should the Blue Jays actually try to bring in Joey Votto as a hitting coach?
