The NHL issues a massive announcement regarding New York Rangers superstar

Igor Shesterkin has proven to be one of the Rangers' most reliable players in the NHL.

Shesterkin has backstopped the New York Rangers to multiple playoff runs and kept them in the games that didn't belong in.

So it's no surprise that the NHL mentioned him as one of the top NHL goalies this week finishing the week of March 9th with a 2.02 GAA.

A stellar example of his solid play, despite the Rangers not being the team they were in 2023-2024.

He joins the list of goalies who have yet to reach his level, or who are maturing with Lukas Dostal, Kevin Lankinen, and the Kings Darcy Kuemper.

Despite Kuemper winning a Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022, it's debatable whether or not he belongs in the same sentence as Shesterkin.

This season with a terrible effort in front of him for most of the season, Shesterkin has a record of 21-22-4, with a 2.87 GAA, and a .905 save percentage.

It's difficult to tell where the Rangers will head this season, whether it's to the playoffs or to the golf course.

But nevertheless, every day the Rangers will have Shesterkin to back them up.

The starting New York Rangers goalie's new contract will begin during the offseason which pays him an AAV of $11.5 million.

Could the Rangers feasibly put together a Stanley Cup-winning roster with Shesterkin carrying that kind of cap hit?

With a raise in the salary cap and his consistent play behind the Rangers' poor blue line, GM Chris Drury should be able to.
