Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reveals the New York Rangers ready for several trades
32 thoughts podcaster and Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the New York Rangers are the team to be watching over the next couple of weeks in the NHL as they are prepared for several offers in trade.
The winds of change have been blowing around the Rangers organization for the past several months and especially since the Rangers were knocked out of the playoff race in March which has led rumors continue.
Friedman states that the Rangers will be the team to watch the coming two weeks
Friedman revealed that the Rangers will be one of the most active teams this offseason as Rangers ownership and their general manager Chris Drury has made it clear that the team needs to be re calibrated and a new look a new style need to be put in place.
The team has several options when it comes to trading which include restricted free agent defenseman
K'Andre Miller who has garnered significant interest throughout the NHL.
Other players who will likely be on the move include Rangers star forward
Chris Kreider, Rangers star
Artemi Panarin who will be on his final year of his deal and may look for another place to play when his contract comes to an end in 2026.
The Rangers had begun their changes as they had fired former head coach Peter Laviolette several weeks ago and hired former Rangers assistant coach and former head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins Mike Sullivan.
The organization also brought in three new assistant coaches yesterday which included former Rangers head coach David Quinn, former Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco and Ty Hennes.
Desire for change with the Rangers has been growing
Drury began his remodeling project with Rangers during last year's offseason where he sent
Barclay Goodrow to waivers who was then picked up by the San Jose Sharks. He also traded Rangers captain
Jacob Trouba to Anaheim and former first overall pick Kappo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken.
Several months ago, he also made a big splash by moving for JT Miller who was on the Vancouver Canucks and a former New York Ranger.
Rangers fans will need to sit back and enjoy the changes as it's clear that the former President's trophy winners will not look the same going into the 2025-2026 season.
