Roster Transaction: New York Rangers reassign player to the AHL as veteran returns to the lineup

The New York Rangers have assigned veteran goalie Louis Domingue to the Hartford Wolfpack, after his excellent performance against the Blackhawks this month.
On January 5th, he'd be in the net and of course, in teeth-gnashing anxiety, we weren't sure how it'd turn out.
He put on an a show, with a 2.00 GAA, and a .926 save percentage in one game this season.
Starting goaltender
Igor Shesterkin is back in goal for the Rangers tonight. The goaltender was placed on IR (injured reserve) after suffering an upper-body injury against the Florida Panthers on December 30th.
Tonight, we get to see Igor Shesterkin return to the lineup after a brief absence. The Rangers have had to make do with
Jonathan Quick, and Louis Domingue policing the net.
Since Shesterkin's been out on IR, the Rangers have won 2 of their last 4 games against the other original six teams, the Bruins and Blackhawks.
Since their start goalie will slot in tonight, the team will have to replicate what they've done against those original six squads and keep the crease clear of pucks.
In addition, they will have to find their scoring power and clog the neutral zone as Sheldon Keefe loves his run-and-gun system.
He seems to have found his stride with the Devils, and
Jack Hughes. Now with the team losing their last four out of five, the Rangers and Shesty could make it five and increase the odds.
A solid performance tonight could also put the Rangers back on the right path toward a wild card spot in the playoffs.
Shesterkin tends to perform well against the Devils, boasting an all time record of 10-6-1 against New Jersey, with a .914 save percentage and a 2.84 goals against average to boot. An Igor masterclass tonight would go a long way to helping the Rangers secure their third win in five games and contribute positively to their slog back up the standings toward a wild card spot.
