New York Rangers head coach makes quite the unexpected move veteran forward returns to the lineup and reclaims his prominent role with the organization.

New York Ranger veteran forward Chris Kreider missed six consecutive games as he was placed on injured reserve following an upper-body injury.
UPDATE: Chris Kreider (upper body, day-to-day) will not play tonight.
Throughout the season, Kreider's role has dropped off a little bit, but head coach Peter Laviolette still trusts the veteran forward as he has made it clear that he won't make him a healthy scratch.
Upon Chris Kreider's return, Laviolette eased him back in by playing him 15:12 minutes in his return against the Ottawa Senators. One day later against the Blue Jackets, Kreider then recorded 17:03 minutes of ice time, along with that the 33-year old forward took Vincent Trocheck's spot in the first power play unit.
«We did switch it up today, put Chris back in front,» Laviolette said. «I thought he did a good job. He got a couple of tips and rebounds and redirects inside of that.»

However, it definitely seemed to pay off as Kreider managed to score a shorthanded goal with the help of Mika Zibanejad on his side.
Despite Kreider's production not being the same as of late, but its pretty clear that he's still an impactful player who plays hard at both ends of the ice and somehow does all the little things the right way.
Hopefully he can continue to an impactful player as the Rangers will desperately need that for tonight's game as they take on the league leaders, the Winnipegs Jets.
If the New York Rangers wish to make this playoffs this season they will have to make sure that all their veteran players can step up when they are needed most.
