Peter Laviolette doesn't back down following recent controversy between him and one of his players
New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette doesn't back down after finding out that one of his players was unhappy with his recent decision.
According to a report from New York Rangers insider Larry Brooks, defenseman Zac Jones is unhappy with head coach Peter Laviolette over his latest decision to make him a healthy scratch.
Zac Jones has been a healthy scratch frequently this season with that Rangers as he has only played in 26 games out of the Rangers 36 games this season.
But now the 24-year old defenseman has had enough and makes his feelings known towards Peter Laviolette public, as it «f***ing sucks" and that he feels like he's "rotting away" on the Rangers' roster.
"I'm just generally a pretty easygoing, happy person," Jones said to Brooks. "And no matter what is going on in my life, I'm gonna try and come to the rink with a smile on my face... But it f***ing sucks.''
This type of comment has caught the attention of a lot fans former Rangers forward Kaapo Kakko was traded just one day after publicly complaining about being scratched, but when this was mentioned to Jones he just smiled and replied, "I'm not trying to pull a Kaapo here."
I pointed out to Zac Jones that Kaapo Kakko got traded a day after complaining about being scratched.
He smiled, and said, "I'm not trying to pull a Kaapo here.''
However, here is Laviolette's response to when he was told about Jones' frustration:
Peter Laviolette was asked about Zac Jones' frustration with playing time:
"It's okay to be frustrated. I'm perfectly fine with that. Everybody wants to play. You get to this level, everyone wants in. They want to play. And I'm okay with that"
However, Peter Laviolette doesn't back down and stands by his decision as he kept Jones off the Rangers lineup as they faced off against the Washington Capitals Saturday afternoon.
Unfortunately the Rangers failed to secure a victory as they took a brutal 7-4 loss to the Caps on Saturday, so it's likely that Laviolette will make so changes before they faceoff against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.
