NHL Insider Frank Seravalli reveals details regarding a failed trade between the New York Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres, after several reports indicated that a trade was imminent.
According to several reports the New York Rangers have had «advanced discussions» with the Buffalo Sabres regarding their top winger J.J Peterka. Ultimately that fell through as the trade never fully materialized.
As trade talks continued to heat up on March 7th, Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, revealed that the New York Rangers were one of the top teams to watch as they have advanced in heavy talks with the Sabres.

Now that a week has passed, Seravalli has revealed what the New York Rangers were willing to give up to acquire J.J Peterka from the Buffalo Sabres.
"I know that #NYR were one of two or three teams to put a bonafide, legitimate offer on the table [for Peterka]. I think [they] offered up a roster player and a 1st-round pick ... I don't know who the roster player was." -

The Rangers have made it clear that their veteran players, such as Chris Kreider, K'Andre Miller and even Mika Zibanejad are trade candidates. So there's a good chance maybe one of them was involved in this potential trade or even a top prospect like Othmann or Berard.
