Newly acquired goalie Callum Tung reportedly declined massive offers before signing to the New York Rangers

Back on Tuesday morning, the New York Rangers reached an agreement with free agent NCAA goaltender Callum Tung, a 21-year old undrafted goalie from UConn has officially signed an entry-level contract with the Rangers organization.

However, the Calgary Flames were highly interested in star goaltender, and there could have been an offer on the table for him.

Thankfully for the New York Rangers, Tung ultimately declined those offers and made the decision he thought was best for him, and signed to the Rangers.

Tung had an outstanding year this season with the Huskies, posting a .933 save percentage (sixth-best in the NCAA), with a 2.01 goals-against average, while going 10-4-1. He led them to their first-ever NCAA Tournament.

Tung, the 6'3", 200-pound netminder, will now report to the Rangers AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolfpack to begin his professional career, on an amateur tryout for the rest of this season. His three-year entry-level deal with New York Rangers begins next season.
