New York Rangers veteran forward receives major demotion from the organization after a recent decline in production over his last few games.
The New York Rangers failed to secure a wild card spot during their game on Tuesday as they lost 3-1 to the Los Angeles Kings, during that time we seen forward J.T. Miller be demoted from the first power-play unit.
Tuesday nights game would've gave the New York Rangers a huge jump in the NHL Standings as they would have moved past the Montréal Canadiens and to secure a wild card spot. However they failed to do so as they only managed to tally 2 shots in the first period, as the Kings dominated throughout the entire game.
However, Rangers forward J.T. Miller managed to get the teams only goal during the second period, but quickly fell behind as the team took three penalties and the Kings quickly capitalized on two of them.
New York Rangers special teams are an issue that desperately needs to be addressed
The Rangers took too many costly penalties in the second period, which led to their downfall as the Kings Capitalized on two of three power-play opportunities.
Even when the New York Rangers were in the power play they failed to make it count as they couldn't capitalize on their chances, resulting in head coach Peter Laviolette moving Miller from the first power-play unit, and replacing him with Vincent Trocheck.
Despite Igor Shesterkin's phenomenal game, 30 of 32 saves, New York was unable to provide him with enough support and get the job done.
Moving forward the Rangers will need to get this figured out as they will get a shot at redemption as they faceoff against their former captain Jacob Trouba and the struggling Anaheim Ducks.
