New York Rangers provide significant update regarding top defenseman Adam Fox's ongoing injury

The New York Rangers have relied on Adam Fox to put an offensive touch on the blue line and quarterback the power play. However, since he's been on IR we haven't gotten an update about his status until recently.
According to USA Today's Vince Mercogliano, defenseman Adam Fox of the New York Rangers was seen skating on his own today.
We won't know what timeline we can expect to see him suit up in Madison Square Garden for a Rangers game again.
Head Coach Peter Laviolette wasn't able to get more into the timeline discussion after today's practice.
But the news of him skating should be taken as a positive sign for Rangers fans everywhere.
However, he remains on long-term injured reserve with an upper-body injury keeping him out of the lineup.
Fox was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after falling hard on his left shoulder in the third period of a 5-1 win against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Wednesday. It's not expected to be season-ending.
This season he's played 58 games for the New York Rangers and scored 48 points ( 5 G, 43 A).
He'd also suit up for Team USA during their recent Four Nations Face-Off run, in was a wildly successful tournament run by the NHL. The first of it's kind of since the 2016s World Cup of Hockey.
Now, the Rangers have to quickly adjust to his absence in the lineup, to which they have relied upon players like Zac Jones, and Will Borgen to shoulder the workload while Fox is out.
For now, Rangers players and fans will have to exercise patience, as Fox will remain out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.
