New York Rangers head coach trending following recent controversial decisions with several top prospects

Recently Peter Laviolette made the decision to healthy scratch top prospect Gabe Perreault on Wednesday night as the New York Rangers faced off against the Philadelphia Flyers. Something that unsurprisingly caused an uproar among fans.

Unfortunately it didn't end there, as the following day, on Thursday, the New York Rangers faced off against their divisional rivals, the New York Islanders and Peter Laviolette decided to healthy scratch two top prospects.

One being Gabriel Perreault, making it two consecutive games. Then along with that Peter Laviolette also decided to make Brennan Othmann a healthy scratch against the Islanders.

Definitely a shocking move considering Othmann has been steadily improving throughout his stint with the Rangers this season, especially has of recent.

Othmann was even playing on the team's top line alongside Artemi Panarin and Vincent Trocheck.

Juuso Parssinen, who hasn't played since Mar. 25 against the Los Angeles Kings, ended up takimg Othmanns spot in the lineup.

Thankfully this move paid off as the New York Rangers managed to take a 9-2 victory over the Islanders to save themselves from elimination last night. However, they still face elimination tonight if the Montreal Canadiens get a single point against the Ottawa Senators.
