FormerNew York Rangers Center Ryan Strome didn't miss a moment when he had a slam dunk opportunity to take down NHL legend Henrik Lundqvist on live TV.
Ryan Strome previously played for the New York Rangers before he even made it out to the West Coast.
Strome was going about his warmups, and would give the NHL On TNT crew some time to get an idea of where his head was at prior to the game against the Utah Hockey Club.
His former teammate and NHL legend Henrik Lundqvist would open up the discussion, the way Hank does.
«'Stromer,' Hank here. Hope you're doing good buddy.»
While this seemed like a perfunctory style of interview, the typical set of questions the TNT crew which includes Paul Bissonnette, and Anson Carter go through, the former Rangers Center would press Strome on how he felt about Hank.
«Hank was just talking about being honest. So, I'm going to be honest now. What was it like having Hank as your teammate?,» Carter asked as laughs could be heard in the background.
We all know Hank is a sharp-dressed man, exactly like that song. Strome would tee up the chirp for later, as he mentioned rolling into practice wearing only track pants while King Hank showed up dapper as ever.
«Unreal. It was unreal» Strome began with a smirk. «I've got a few good stories. One time, he came to the practice rink and he was in a three-piece suit and I'm wearing track pants. I'm like, 'Hank, what's going on here?' And he had an appearance for like half my salary after practice!»
We all know Hank for three things, his ability to stop a puck, his three-piece suits that always look fresh, and his ability to rock out on the guitar.
But it was Strome that would cause the mass amount of gut laughter in the TNT Studios as the contrast had to be stark.
However, he wouldn't let a small jab at Hank's style fill the air, as he would answer the question and give a great answer about how great of a player he was.
«I love his competitiveness. Hank's the best. We had a couple tough years there and his competitiveness rubbed off on everybody, and left a lasting impact on a lot of guys. You don't get to play with legends very often. And Hank, it was a great time.»
Strome and Hank were teammates up until the 2019-2020 season. He was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in 2018, and would be a part of the team who failed to make the playoffs that year with 78 points.
Lundqvist would soon retire after 2020, while Strome would remain a Ranger until 2022.
