Former Stanley Cup Champion Chad Ruhwedel's career has hit an all-time low, as the depth defenseman is headed back to the Hartford Wolfpack. It happened only a day after being called up from the AHL.

The New York Rangers have once again decided that they don't need Chad Ruhwedel's services.
Today, the team has sent him packing back to the AHL's Hartford Wolfpack, where he's played the majority of the hockey season.
Ruhwedel has seen limited usage in the NHL this season as he's only played 5 games for the Rangers.
He's only scored 1 point (1 A) in that time period and played 36 games in the AHL scoring 12 points (3 G, 9 A) for the Wolfpack.
UPDATE: Chad Ruhwedel has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Originally, Ruhwedel was called up after the Rangers failed to secure a victory over the Washington Capitals 3-2.
Yesterday, GM Chris Drury wouldn't rest either and acquired defenseman Carson Soucy in a trade with the Vancouver Canucks for a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
It's obvious the team is loaded to the brim with defensemen who can fulfill the role without having to rely on Ruhwedel who GM Chris Drury, nor Peter Laviolette feel the need to keep up in New York.
Ruhwedel's contract with the Rangers will expire at the end of 2024-2025, and it's difficult to see where his next steps will be.
He makes $775K against the salary cap and is a one-year, two-way deal.
Is he old news in New York already?
Plenty of teams need rentals for long-runs in the postseason and Ruhwedel could fill a role elsewhere, if he's not needed anymore.
