Former New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette shockingly confirmed his fate with a statement just days before he was relieved of his duties with the organization.
Former head coach Peter Laviolette has obviously been relieved of his duties as the New York Rangers head coach head coach after a brutal season with the organization.
Ever since being eliminated from the playoff contention against the Carolina Hurricanes, Laviolette was faced with several questions regarding his future with the Rangers and it was finally answered.
Peter Laviolette confirmed his fate with the Rangers organization with shocking statement
Moments before Laviolette was fired, he was faced with a series of questions, and while answering one of those he made it clear that he wanted to stay with the Rangers:
«Those are things I can't control... The year certainly wasn't where it needed to be,» Laviolette said. «But right now, I'm here, and this is where I want to be.»
However, Laviolette admitted that this past season has been filled with both emotionally and mentally struggles due to the team's inconsistence, something that took a toll on the coaches:
«I think for everybody,» Laviolette said about if this has been a hard season from an emotional and mental standpoint. «For players, for staff, for coaches, organization, fans, it's everybody. It was a lot of ups and downs, too many downs. I think that takes an emotional toll, sure.»
Basically confirming that everyone was checked out for a while and that something desperately needed to change, ultimately that led to his firing as it was his job to keep the team together.
Now, the 60-year-old coach is currently jobless and potentially looking for a new job with another organization this offseason. Along with leaving the Rangers organization looking for their next head coach.
