It appears that former Rangers forward Nick Bonino who was released by the New York Rangers in February of 2024 has just signed with HK Olimpija Ljubljana of the ICEHL for the remainder of their season.
Bonino's game has dropped off dramatically as he had struggled with the Rangers having played 45 games with the team last year.
The 36-year-old only had one goal and four assists during that time and played 12 minutes and 15 seconds on average of ice time.
After being unclaimed through waivers, Bonino chose not to report to the Hartford Wolfpack to which he was released from the team through unconditional waivers.
Bonino was originally selected in the 2007 entry draft by the San Jose Sharks, sixth round 173rd overall.
His career began in 2009 with the Anaheim Ducks where he spent five seasons with the team and then had stops with the Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators, Minnesota wild and the New York Rangers.
Always a solid contributor of offence especially on the bottom 6, his game has declined dramatically over the past couple of years which led to his demise with the Rangers.
He has played 868 games in the NHL with 159 goals 199 assists for 358 points and it's a + 30.
On behalf of everyone here at NY Rangers Insider we wish nothing but the best to Nick Bonino as he embarks on this new journey.
