With the Stanley Cup awarded to the Florida Panthers, trade season is about to begin, and it appears that the Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers are gearing up for a potential blockbuster.

It was reported by a Lyle Richardson of The Hockey News that the Rangers may be appearing to move first line centre Mika Zibanejad to the Bruins in exchange for Bruins rising star Matthew Poitras.
Both teams have a need to make a trade as the Bruins are currently weak and up the middle with the recent retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krecji.
The team had trouble scoring goals during the playoffs which led to their demise in the second round against the Panthers. Zibanejad may need a change of scenery and the Rangers are also looking to free up salary which includes the $8.5 million he holds.
This potential trade could help both clubs As the Rangers would receive a first-round pick, and two potential prospects including Poitras and or John Beecher.
It remains to be seen on whether this trade will occur as Zibanejad holds a full no movement clause. And with six years remaining on his deal at a cap it of $8.5 million AAV, both teams need to be sure they want to make this deal happen.
The NHL draft will take place on June 28th at 7:00 PM eastern in Las Vegas NV an unrestricted free agency will begin on July 1st at 12:00 PM eastern.
